Happy Valentine's Day....Day One of our trip....Feb 14

Well, not much to share on Valentine's Day.... We had a lot to get ready for our trip....
Get the dogs over to Uncle Dewey's.... With instructions to feed and medicate, etc.....
Instructions to Ernie (our renter) on how to feed and care for Maizie, our cat, and Tiko and Pickle our litttle green birds...... It doesn't sound like much, but the birds HATE anyone that's not me....
This is the BEFORE picture... Rain in Southern Oregon and Jim and I with our raincoats and hat on........

So we drive through lots of rain, get a Subway sandwich on the way, and we have to stop at Barnes and Noble because the library didn't have a copy of Maui Revealed. Which we were supposed to bring with us.... but we did get another book that had a lot of info which is helpful...
We drove through lots and lots of rain, but by the time we got to Portland, it had stopped. Kaela and Jason drove down and met us at one of our favorite restaurants, The Blue Nile on NE Broadway. We haven't been there for years, and it's amazing food for amazingly great prices. I can't believe that Jason and Kaela drove all the way down from Tacoma to meet with us before we left.
Here are Kaela, Jason and, of course, Baby Beeks outside the Blue Nile. Go Jason! Go Kaela! Grow Baby Beeks!!!!!

Here are a couple of pix of a really great time:
I'd say pregnancy agrees with both Jason and Kaela, hmmm????
This is the famous Blue Nile vegetarian plate. If you've never eaten Ethiopian food, they serve this combo on a very large slightly sourdough pancake, then put the different dishes on the pancake. Tear off pieces of pancake and use it to scoop up the yummy food and YUM, YUM! they give you an extra pancake too!!

Here we are full and happy. May we really really recommend The Blue Nile during your next trip to Portland! We had to say goodbye to Jason, Kaela and Baby Beeks, and get to our motel.

We stayed at the Portland Ramada Inn which was an older motel but had recently been updated, and it was great because they had Park n Fly and we don't have pay long-term parking.

Oh, for those of you that are wondering what Jim got me for V Day, I got to eat out at one of my all time favorite places, the Nile. I got to start our wonderful trip to the Islands. And I got 2 packages of my favorite, Hersey's dark chocolate almond Bliss candies.... They're really good for your heart (yeah, right...)

We're very excited for you! It was incredibly foggy and damp this morning....

Mr. Gail, Janice guessed the hangman clue almost instantly. Mo's comment was, "Aloha doesn't mean good luck!"
